Fenestra

About

When we think of expressions in a picture, we think of eyes looking back at us. But what if those windows – those fenestra, stay frozen as a permanent opening to the person in the picture? What if, when we look at that picture, we look back in time, at the very moment the picture was taken, and we connect with who that person was then? The expressions of the face can be bold or subtle. Sometimes we don’t perceive the individual elements of the face, but we feel the spirit of the person beyond time and space. That, to me, is the power and the language of the portrait.
